About BBGC

The Bowie Boys and Girls Club (BBGC) is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers.  The Club was established in 1963 and remains committed to its mission of character building, integrity and teamwork.  As the BBGC enters a new season of sports, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce new and improved services.

Purpose:  
 
The purpose of the Bowie Boys and Girls Club shall be to promote the general welfare, health, and education of the youth of our community by providing a properly supervised athletic program; to develop principals of good sportsmanship; to acquaint them with the value of law observance; to provide instruction in the fundamentals of all sports and athletic activities; to foster interests among the citizens of our community in their responsibility to our youth; and to prepare our youth to be better citizens in the future.
 
Membership:
 
Any youth who has paid the required dues and the parents or guardian shall become a non-voting member of this association and be eligible to participate in Club activities.  Payment of the dues and fees shall qualify a youth for membership with accompanying privileges. For more specific required for certain sports please see Athletics.
 
Board of Directors:
 
The duties of the board of directors shall be to further the philosophy and purpose of the club; to discuss and vote on matters brought before the board; to assist in a minimum of one general Club fundraiser program per year.
 
The BBGC Board of Directors shall consist of elected persons of the community interested in furthering the aims and goals of the boys and girls club.  Membership is not to exceed 50 in number according to the by-laws.  New members shall be nominated by any current member of the board of directors.
 
All nominations shall include a report of the nominee's Club involvement.  Election shall be by a majority vote of the Board of Directors present.  Nominations will be made at least one month prior to the vote.  No more than four new directors may be elected at any one meeting.  General Board Meetings are the third Thursday of each month.  Non-excused absence of four regular meetings during the calendar year is cause for dismissal from the board.
 
Executive Board:
 
Elections are held each November for the Executive Board.  Officers are secretary, treasurer, president-elect, immediate past president, president and four executive members: chairperson of ways and means, chairperson of athletic committee, chairperson of administration and chairperson of publicity.  The executive members serve at the pleasure of the president.
